Helping Associations Succeed
Velocity Studios has had many successful relationships with associations. The fact is, we appreciate the kind of innovative solutions that arise when you approach a problem from the vantage of many points of view. To us, it's about organically managing change. And that's exciting. As a small dedicated team, ourselves, we can also identify with what it takes to push ambitious projects ahead while balancing modest resources. We were happy when the Ontario Association of Optometrists (OAO) asked Velocity to design and develop their new website and extranet portal. And even happier when they, subsequently, assigned us their agency of record.
Challenge
Advancing the Profession
A large part of the OAO's mandate is to advance the optometry profession at government, regulatory and public levels. Our task was to integrate a wide range of communication tools - from IT deliverables to printed promotions - aimed at raising awareness and understanding of the OAO. Velocity understood that to serve as truly dynamic advocates for the OAO's objective we would need to effectively engage with multiple groups of stakeholders - all carrying distinct motivations and perspectives about the OAO - without losing sight of the OAO's overall mandate.
Solution
Seeing the Big Picture
Velocity helped redesign and redevelop all of the OAO's core communications in support of a strong, unified brand. The result is an advocacy arsenal that speaks out for members, influences policy decisions at Queen's Park and strengthens relationships in the community. Our work has included:
- a new website, including design, architecture and development of a content management system, member directory, discussion boards and Commerce
- an online advocacy toolkit
- a multimedia 100th anniversary publication
- print materials, including: annual and quarterly reports, and
- trade show systems and supports
In recognition of Velocity's contribution to building them a stronger communications foundation, the OAO presented us with a Certificate of Appreciation.
