Intermediate/Senior PHP Web Developer

  • Brief Description/ Summary

    Velocity is looking for a front and back-end Web Developer to work on various incoming projects and carry out ongoing development and maintenance of an interactive and multi-dimensional site. This role requires a broad knowledge of many programming and design disciplines, including PHP, HTML, Javascript, CSS, XML, Code Igniter and Expression Engine, excellent communication skills and a problem-solving mentality. Expression Engine and PHP proficiency would be great but not critical. Candidate must be self-motivated, detail-oriented and organized. 3-5 years experience is preferred, but interest, a desire to learn and talent are most important. Ability to communicate with clients and provide accurate timeframes and development requirements is essential. This is a full-time, in-office job and the ideal candidate will be easy-going, hard-working and creative.

  • Responsibilities

    • Website maintenance and interface design
    • Developing programming code from scratch or by adapting existing website graphics and software to meet business requirements
    • Image editing using Photoshop
    • Testing the website and identifying any technical problems and glitches
    • Determining any functionality that the website must support and developing content based on practical approved layout
    • Website maintenance / Database design
    • Database entry

  • Requirements

    • 3-5 years with XHTML/CSS/Javascript
    • 3-5 years experience with PHP 5/MySQL 5
    • Knowledge of jQuery, AJAX, Doctrine, PHPUnit, phpDocumentor, Unified Modeling Language (UML), PHP Design Patterns
    • Social Networking integration knowledge and/or experience using any one of the following: FBML, Open Graph, Digg, Twitter, Flickr, OpenID, and YouTube API's.
    • Proficient in Expression Engine, Drupal, Joomla
    • Dreamweaver/PHP Designer/FTP
    • Proficient with Structured Query Language
    • Proficient Photoshop/Illustrator
    • Knowledge of international web standards and protocols
    • Strong interpersonal and communication skills with excellent fluency in English
    • Ability to multi-task
